The son of a struggling farmer, Fearn has remarkable powers that could label him as evil or in cahoots with the evil that roams their land at night. The other farmers and towns folk are a superstitious group and easily influenced through vividly embellished tales. In using his powers, Fearn is discovered, and his fate lies in hands other than his own.
The author, Gavin Black, crafts a dark tale with riveting characters and engaging adventure and action. Fearn’s character is likable and fully developed. The story flowed smoothly and was fast-paced. It was easy to become lost in the book. Although some may call this a coming-of-age book, it is so much more!
The narrator, Dylan Wheeler gives a solid performance capturing and projecting the personality of each character richly. He spoke clearly and fluently.
This is a delightful book that captures the imagination of its listeners. If you enjoy slightly dark stories with a fantasy-like feel, this is a book for you.
